Welcome to our Miracle Month of May!
There is so much to celebrate already this year. Since January, our amazing teams in each of Aotearoa’s six NICU have provided more than 1,500 hours of peer support to families. In three months, they’ve hosted more than 50 morning teas or lunches on units and delivered over 1,000 care packs – each carefully curated to support whānau in those difficult first few days.
Each of these moments of kindness and empathy is made possible by Little Miracles Trust’s supporters, sponsors and partners as we raise the $750,000 we need each year to continue our service in NICU, SCBU and beyond. Heartfelt thanks to you all. Every little bit helps, and our Little Miracles team makes sure that as much of every donation as possible goes toward our frontline support for families.
Throughout our first ‘Miracle Month of May’, our team will be thinking about all of our NICU and SCBU mums and wider whānau as we mark Mother’s Day, and Kangaroo Care Day. New podcasts featuring expert insight into common concerns like lactation and developmental delay will drop, and we will be teaming up with our partners at Baby Sensory with a raffle and donation drive with a $30,000 target that you can donate to here.
In addition, we are utterly stoked to be launching a national hardship support programme with support from NZ Lotteries COGS and our new partner, Woolworths. So many families are struggling right now, and a NICU or SCBU stay often compounds that hardship, so we are delighted to be able to disburse food and petrol vouchers to help make a difficult start that little bit easier.
