AUCKLAND
Mums Morning Tea
EVERY Tuesday at 10.30am in the Mums room in NICU. Come and along to chat with one of our Lactation Consultants and other NICU Mums as well as enjoy some home baking provided by one of our ex-NICU Mums.
Coffee Confidential
Our coffee group with a ‘twist’. The purpose of the group is to get ex-NICU families to come out for a coffee and a chat, to talk through their NICU experience plus the transition of going home. We have held some really successful sessions since October last year and are set to continue helping our families out at the Parenting Place, Greenlane on the first Friday of the month between 12.30-2pm
The Little Miracles Trust Developmental Playgroup
We’re having a great year this year with record numbers at the group! Kathryn and Janet would love to see any ex-NICU/SCBU families and babies for our fortnightly playgroup at the Parenting Place, Greenlane which is easily accessible from all parts of Auckland. In June we’ll be running the groups on and 5th and 19th September from 10am til 11.30am. There’s no need to worry about being on time or staying for the whole time, feel free to come and go as works for you and your baby.
WAIKATO
Korero with Te Awamutu Creative Fibre
A big thank you to the wonderful ladies of Te Awamutu Creative Fibre for a morning of knitting and conversation, and for the beautiful knitted items you created as gifts for families and babies in the NICU. It was a pleasure to meet you all and to share some pointers about the do’s and don’ts of knitting or crocheting for premature babies.
It is always humbling to speak to a group of women and realise we all have common stories and experiences, and that we all carry our own journey within us, often not realising the impact it has on us, or how many around us have similar experiences.
Creative Crafters Making a Difference
It is amazing how much talent lies hidden amongst a group of colleagues! Thank you to Claudia for rallying your team of crafters, and to colleagues Adela, Ann, Alysha, Isobel, Fiona, Tania and Jen from BODCO for your beautiful knitting and crochet baby clothing created as gifts for babies in Waikato NICU.
We are always blown away by the talent and generosity within our local communities, and the desire to help and give to those we know are going through a rough time. Having a premature or sick newborn is incredibly stressful, and the kindness of strangers can often provide that little lift you need on a tough day.
WELLINGTON
Vote for The Little Miracles Trust Wellington
We are super excited to let you know The Neonatal Trust Wellington has been selected as one of the 4 local charities at Z Constable Street, Newtown. Voting starts on 1 September (which coincidentally happens to be Father’s Day this year) and goes through until 30 September. To vote, you just need to purchase your petrol, or a coffee or newspaper (no minimum spend) and you will be given a token to place in the voting box.
This year we have also been asked if we could provide a Neonatal Trust Neighbourhood Concierge for a couple of hours. This is someone who will be on the forecourt with a Z employee filling up petrol or cleaning windows while wearing a Neonatal Trust top which helps us to raise awareness of our charity and hopefully that customer will place their voting token in our box! We can choose our own time slot, so if anyone is keen to volunteer we would love to hear from you at: office@littlemiraclestrust.org.nz. If this is not your thing, but you would like to volunteer for us, through are lots of other ways such as by doing baking, knitting, quilt making, fundraising etc so please just get in touch if you are keen.
NICU Coffee Group
Wednesday 4th September from 10.00 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. at the Southern Cross Cafe and Garden Bar, Abel Smith Street, Wellington CBD. We invite all our NICU Graduate families to join our staff for a coffee/muffin and chat. Please just purchase your own coffee at the counter and we will provide a platter of muffins and scones. This is a great opportunity for Mum’s venturing out on their own for the first time, when maybe their partner has returned to work. Siblings and Dads are most welcome as well.
