Mums Morning Tea
EVERY Tuesday at 10.30am in the Mums room in NICU.  Come and along to chat with one of our Lactation Consultants and other NICU Mums as well as enjoy some home baking provided by one of our ex-NICU Mums.

Coffee Confidential
Our coffee group with a ‘twist’.  The purpose of the group is to get ex-NICU families to come out for a coffee and a chat, to talk through their NICU experience plus the transition of going home.  We have held some really successful sessions since October last year and are set to continue helping our families out at the Parenting Place, Greenlane between 12.30-2pm: 5 July

The Little Miracles Trust Developmental Playgroup
We’re having a great year this year with record numbers at the group! Kathryn and Janet would love to see any ex-NICU/SCBU families and babies for our fortnightly playgroup at the Parenting Place, Greenlane which is easily accessible from all parts of Auckland.  In June we’ll be running the groups on and 11 &25 July from 10am til 11.30am.  There’s no need to worry about being on time or staying for the whole time, feel free to come and go as works for you and your baby.

WAIKATO

Thank you New World Rototuna
It is always a pleasure to meet new, enthusiastic people who care about their communities, so it was lovely to get to know some of the staff at New World Rototuna as they hosted our incubator collection and information box in June. Thank you all for making the time and effort to help us to help those going through the difficult and emotionally fraught journey of having a premature or sick baby.

A huge thank you to all of the New World Rototuna customers, and staff, who donated money to help The Little Miracles Trust support some of the most vulnerable members of our communities, and their families!

Thank you New World Te Rapa
A huge shout out and thank you to New World Te Rapa for hosting our incubator donation and information box in June! As one of the biggest New World stores in Hamilton, we know that there are a large proportion of your staff members and customers who have been through, or are currently going through, a NICU journey with a premature of sick newborn baby spending an extended period of time in hospital. It is a frightening experience, often leaving parents and whanau feeling out of touch and disconnected from their communities. Thank you for demonstating care for your local community by helping The Little Miracles Trust to raise money to help the most vulnerable in our community and make a very difficult start to life a little bit easier.

To everyone who donated, customers and staff members alike, a massive thank you! With your help we are able to practically help families in our neonatal intensive care units, NICU staff and research into prematurity.

If you know of or own a business, café or shop that would like to host our incubator donation and information box, please get in touch, we would love to work with you! With about 5000 Kiwi babies born premature every year, and many more born full term but too unwell to go home immediately, the chances are 1 in 10 of your staff and customers have had a NICU journey!

It’s Baby Expo time in Hamilton!
The annual Baby Expo, held in Hamilton on 29th and 30th June this year, seems to be getting bigger and better each year! With a host of exhibitors and products catering for ‘Bump, Birth and Beyond’ it is a big day out for many expectant and new parents.
However, sometimes pregnancy and birth don’t go quite according to plan… One in 10 babies are born premature in New Zealand each year, and many more are born full term but with complications that can also mean an extended stay in one of our neonatal intensive care units. It doesn’t matter if your NICU journey is just a few days, or if it is several months in length, it is an incredibly stressful and emotionally fraught time for new parents, and their extended families.
It can be really hard in the midst of a NICU journey to take the time to celebrate the birth of your baby by doing ‘normal’ things, like attending a baby show, which is why we are immensely grateful to The Baby Expo for donating free tickets to the show to all families currently in the Waikato NICU.

Thank you for allowing our new parents and their whanau an opportunity to look forward to and plan for their homeward journey as NICU graduates!
