Mums Morning Tea

Coffee Confidential

Our coffee group with a ‘twist’.  This is a facilitated group run by  Lara Mulgrew (Psychotherapist) who has worked in Auckland NICU.  The purpose of the group is to get ex-NICU families to come out for a coffee and a chat, to talk through their NICU experience plus the transition of going home.  We held three really successful sessions at the end of last year and will continue again in 2019 on the following dates at the Parenting Place, Greenlane between 12.30-2pm: 10 May, 5 June, 7 July

The Little Miracles Trust Developmental Playgroup –we’re having a great year this year with record numbers at the group!

Kathryn and Janet would love to see any ex-NICU/SCBU families and babies for our fortnightly playgroup at the Parenting Place, Great South Road from 10am til 11.30am.  There’s no need to stay for the whole time just come along when you can and stay for as long as you can!  This is a fantastic FREE service for babies who have been through a NICU or SCBU unit. It is appropriate for babies from when they go home from the unit, until they are cruising furniture. If your baby is well, you may come when you feel ready.  Janet Milne, who is an Occupational Therapist, is there to answer any questions you may have.  It’s a great opportunity to meet up with other families who have been through NICU/SCBU.  2, 16 & 30 May

WAIKATO

We’re seeking support from local businesses and organisations to host our incubator donation box.  If you think you can help, please email us regina.marais@littlemiraclestrust.org.nz

Coffee Groups

We invite all our NICU Graduate families to join us for a coffee/muffin and chat on the first Wednesday of every month at the Southern Cross Cafe in Abel Smith Street, Wellington CBD.  Please just purchase your own coffee at the counter and we will provide a platter of muffins and scones.  The Little Miracles Trust and Homecare staff will be there to catch up with and to answer any questions you have.  Older siblings are always welcome.  With Winter coughs and colds around, please only attend if your family is 100% well.

The Upper Hutt coffee group is on Friday 17th May from 10.00 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. at the Columbus Cafe in Mitre 10 Mega, Upper Hutt (please note the new venue this year).  We will provide a platter of muffins and scones so we just ask that you purchase your own coffee when you arrive.

NICU Whanau Room “Little Free Library”

We have decided to start a “Little Free Library” in our Whanau Room in NICU where a lot of our families and their visitors spend many hours. We are looking for pre-loved adult fiction and non fiction books in good condition. We thought it would be extra special if any of our NICU Graduate Families would like to donate one of their own books to the library and you could inscribe the book with a personal message from your family.

The Little Miracles Trust also has a trolley of books that parents can read to their babies in the unit and a library in our office for parents to borrow on issues such as breastfeeding, raising multiples and what to expect when you have a premature baby.

If you would like to donate a book, please drop it off to The Little Miracles Trust Wellington Office in NICU. We are open Mondays to Fridays from 9.00 a.m. – 5.30 p.m. Thank you for paying it forward.
