South African Ansie de Coning’s baby, Carla has pulled through after spending 116 days in the neonatal ICU unit. She was born three months prematurely, weighing just 580g. De Coning was thrilled when Carla came home on Thursday.
Carla was born on April 13, much earlier than the expected July 28 birth date. ‘I had a perfectly normal pregnancy,” said De Coning. ‘On the day of Carla’s birth, which was at 25 weeks, I was planning to go to hospital to book my bed.”
