Top chefs serve up cookbook to support our tiniest babies!
Lashings of generosity, ladles of culinary pedigree, and big helpings of support have all gone into the production of Welcome Home – a cookbook by some of Wellington’s masters of fine cuisine.
Al Brown, Simon Gault, Martin Bosley, Laurent Loudeac and a galaxy of other cooking stars have joined forces with families of premature and sick newborn babies to produce the cookbook, which is on shelves in time for Mothers Day, Sunday 13 May.
“Welcome Home was inspired by the generosity that parents often experience, arriving home with their precious baby to find baskets of food left on the doorstep by friends and family,” said Nikki Nobilo, a Neonatal Trust volunteer, and mother of a premature baby, who helped create the cookbook.
“Having a premature, or a sick newborn can be a frightening and lonely experience. The Little Miracles Trust provides incredible support at that time.”
All proceeds from the book will go to The Little Miracles Trust, a charity supporting over 6000 families of premature or sick newborns every year.
The Little Miracles Trust Chief Executive Officer Michael Meads, said Welcome Home is everything you could want in a cookbook.
“It’s a beautifully produced book, featuring recipes from 12 celebrated chefs, each recipe matched with a suitably tasty NZ renowned beverage. Each chapter also includes recipes donated by friends of The Little Miracles Trust.”
“This labour of love is from a dedicated group of Trust volunteers, and we’re grateful for the support of everyone involved – from the chefs, to the photographers, to the designers, to the distribution partners and sponsors, to the dedicated team who helped put it together – which means that all proceeds from the sale of this special book will go to the Trust.”
Welcome Home is on sale for $39.95, available at Mojo cafés in Auckland, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin as well as Moore Wilson’s and most of the featured chefs’ restaurants. Other stockists are listed on the website: www.welcomehome.org.nz.
