Theo's story
Theo, 33 weeks 4 days, 1500 grams
Theo, my son, born in 2010 at 33 weeks 4 days. He was born by emergency C-section due to a severe IUGR (growth restriction). He weighed 1.5 kg and stayed 26 days in the NICU (he was born in Auckland hospital but he was transferred to Middlemore NICU after 3 days as we live closer to Middlemore).
He is now 5 1/2 and if you don’t know he was born early and so tiny you cannot guess. He is very active, healthy, he is at school and his learning is as good as any of the other child in his class. Here are some pictures of Theo then and now:
Thanks so much for sharing your personal story!
We get a lot of positive feedback from families in a neonatal unit who read these stories and feel strength, hope and positivity knowing that they are not alone going through these experiences and feeling certain emotions.
If you would like to discuss sharing the story of your neonatal journey, we’d love to hear from you.
