The 2014 Great New Zealand Englefield Duck Race
Thousands of rubber ducks will take to the water on Sunday 30 November, setting a quacking pace for the 2014 Great New Zealand Englefield Charity Rubber DuckRace, as part of the Hutt River Festival in Lower Hutt. The race is a main feature of this year’s Interislander Hutt River Festival, with 10,000 individually-numbered little yellow ducks available for people to purchase, and a number of larger ducks available for corporate sponsorship.Â
The racecourse is the stretch of river between the Melling and Ewen Bridges and around 10,000 spectators are expected.
Before the event, tickets are sold, and each duck is allotted a ticket number. Small ducks are $2 and Corporate Ducks cost $200 – these are larger and you can dress them up in your businesses colours / logo (and you keep the duck for your office).
The proceeds from the sale of the tickets go to charities and this year The Little Miracles Trust has been lucky enough to be selected as a charity which will benefit from the tickets sold in our name!
We have a number of tickets to sell, both:
– the $2 tickets for the smaller tickets
– the larger $200 Corporate Ducks.
There are some impressive prizes on offer including a $1,000 Wellington Experience, a $600 Pak N Save voucher and a $400 White Swan Voucher. There’s also a Best-Dressed Racing Duck Trophy awarded to the most creatively-costumed corporate sponsored duck. Competition for the best-dressed ducky amongst business sponsors is expected to be fierce.
If you would like to buy tickets, please email info@littlemiraclestrust.org.nz.Â

Thanks so much for sharing your personal story!
We get a lot of positive feedback from families in a neonatal unit who read these stories and feel strength, hope and positivity knowing that they are not alone going through these experiences and feeling certain emotions.
If you would like to discuss sharing the story of your neonatal journey, we’d love to hear from you.
