Micro-premmies face big battles in life

Just over a decade ago, Canadian Kate Robson and her husband Sean Jensen were discussing baby names.

If it was a girl, they would name her Margaret Lis after both our mothers.

“It was our first baby, we were very excited. What a great way to honour our own mothers,” Robson called.

But when she was five months pregnant, Robson was put on bed rest. She had high blood pressure, her pregnancy became high risk.

During a subsequent check, her midwife noted Robson had abnormally high blood pressure and shuttled her to hospital.

Robson had placental insufficiency, the couple was told, their baby had stopped growing in utero at about 23 weeks gestation, even though she was at 25 weeks and five precious days.
