"Giraffe shuttle" helping babies at Waikato Hospital
Golfers have had a hand in helping premature babies get around Waikato Hospital.
It’s thanks to a new “Giraffe Shuttle” – donated by the Little Miracles Trust – which makes it easier to move babies with the equipment used to treat them.
The Trust was the charity of choice of the 2018 NZ Financial Markets Charity Golf Classic in Taupō, and used some of the money to buy the shuttle for the Waikato Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
Using the shuttle will mean the team won’t need to handle “fragile pre-term babies” as much, NICU charge nurse manager Chantelle Hill said.
