As told by mum, Amber.

Amiracle was born on the 8/3/2020 weighing 495 grams and and 23 weeks gestation.

My father in-law passed away that day and as we left our home in Auckland to Tauranga my waters broke. Amiracle was born in Waikato hospital feet first.

It was a long, hard journey for us as a family.  We were jammed in to a small motel room to be close to Amiracle, but then Covid-19 hit.   Having 2 older daughters 5 & 6, we were still grieving the loss of our 3rd daughter (Akiwa) who’d sadly passed away only last year, and now we were also mourning the loss of an amazing Grandfather so watching Amiracle beat all odds was just the blessing we needed.

She is a chunky happy little girl with so much fight and I’m forever grateful and thankful for the care she had while in NICU Waikato and then SCBU North Shore Auckland.

Thank you all xxx

We get a lot of positive feedback from families in a neonatal unit who read these stories and feel strength, hope and positivity knowing that they are not alone going through these experiences and feeling certain emotions.

If you would like to discuss sharing the story of your neonatal journey, we’d love to hear from you. Please email info@littlemiraclestrust.org.nz
