AUCKLAND

Mums Morning Tea -now EVERY Tuesday at 10.30am in the Mums room in NICU.  Come and along to chat with one of our Lactation Consultants and other NICU Mums as well as enjoy some home baking provided by one of our ex-NICU Mums.

Coffee Confidential – our coffee group with a ‘twist’.  This is a facilitated group run by  Lara Mulgrew (Psychotherapist) who has worked in Auckland NICU.  The purpose of the group is to get ex-NICU families to come out for a coffee and a chat, to talk through their NICU experience plus the transition of going home.  We held three really successful sessions at the end of last year and will continue again in 2019 on the following dates at the Parenting Place, Greenlane between 12.30-2pm: 1 February, 1 March, 29 March, 26 April, 24 May and 21 June.

The Little Miracles Trust Developmental Playgroup –we’re back and ready to play on Thursday 7 February at 10am! Kathryn and Janet would love to see any ex-NICU/SCBU families and babies for our fortnightly playgroup at the Parenting Place, Great South Road from 10am til 11.30am.  There’s no need to stay for the whole time just come along when you can and stay for as long as you can!  This is a fantastic FREE service for babies who have been through a NICU or SCBU unit. It is appropriate for babies from when they go home from the unit, until they are cruising furniture. If your baby is well, you may come when you feel ready.  Janet Milne, who is an Occupational Therapist, is there to answer any questions you may have.  It’s a great opportunity to meet up with other families who have been through NICU/SCBU.

Running for Little Lives – one of our amazing ex-NICU Mums, Katie Salter, ran the Maui marathon on 20 January in 3hrs and 48minutes to fundraise for the Little Miracles Trust Auckland.   You can still support Katie by donating to her fundraising at this link: https://give.everydayhero.com/nz/running-for-little-lives

Fundraising Market Stall – On top of the sales from our shop we also need to do a lot of other fundraising ventures such as market stalls, movie nights, Entertainment Book sales etc.  We have been very fortunate to have been donated lots of brand new items for us to sell from Lee Campny (a NICU Graduate Mum) and we are currently looking for appropriate retail space in the Wellington area for a short term “Pop Up Shop”.  We would also be keen to provide some stock for a NICU Graduate family to sell in their work place on our behalf.   If you are able to assist in any way, please contact Raewyn or Tasia ph (04) 806-0790.

Pre-loved Clothing – We are always needing pre-loved clothing to keep our “Fill a Bag” basket full – as we can’t keep up with the demand from our customers.  If you have any that you would like to donate, please just drop them off at The Little Miracles Trust shop between 9.00 a.m. – 5.30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

CHRISTCHURCH

A massive thank you to Alicia and all those involved with ‘A Night Out for Neonatal‘ at Addington Raceway in January.  A hugely successful night and a great time was had by all!   The support generated from this event will allow us to purchase some brand new La-Z-Boy chairs for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Christchurch.  La-Z-Boy’s are especially useful for parents undergoing the stress and anxiety of a neonatal journey – they’re perfect for enabling parents to bond with their baby during kangaroo cuddles and importantly, the chairs are leather to ensure that they don’t wear quickly and can also be easily cleaned to ensure optimum hygiene and therefore reduce the chances of a baby picking up bugs and infections.

DUNEDIN

Thanks very much to Craig and the team at Fresh Choice Rosalyn who very kindly donate a basket of fresh fruit to the families in the Neonatal Unit each week!
