Points for Purpose Stuff article imageA new charity initiative ‘Points for Purpose’ is helping make life easier for families of premature babies, such as three-month old Tiare O’Sullivan-Heemi.
Born 14 weeks early on July 21 and weighing just  985 grams, Tiare was just bigger than her mother’s hand. Mum Brittany Hepi said the days after Tiare’s birth were mixed with happiness and anxiety after her baby was whisked away to an incubator.

Hepi was hugely appreciative of Points for Purpose and said it helped charities like The Little Miracles Trust make life a little bit easier for families.
“They are amazing. It’s a really hard and emotional time. They know what you are going through and know what help and support you need.” She had travelled from her home in Upper Hutt into Wellington and later to the Hutt neonatal unit every day to be with Tiare and found the process exhausting.

On November 1, mother and daughter received a brand new wool baby blanket and in doing so became the first family to benefit from the trust’s new partnership with the Points for Purpose initiative.

The scheme supplies charities with useful goods for those who need them the most. Goods are paid for using Fly Buys points donated by other Kiwis.

It was a clever way of allowing people who were short of cash or with surplus points to help those in need.

The Little Miracles Trust is privileged to be part of Points for Purpose – a new initiative where Kiwis can turn their Fly Buys points into support for others.

Through using your Fly Buys points, you can support neonatal families with great items such as:

These items will help keep neonatal babies warm and also provide a pick-me-up for families who are going through the stress and anxiety of a neonatal journey.  This is another example of The Little Miracles Trust helping to support neonatal families. To see others, you can view a gallery of other examples of our meaningful and practical support.

How does it work?
It’s as simple as 1 – 2 – 3

  1. Choose from the selected items available that can be redeemed with your Fly Buys points to support neonatal families
  2. Select the item(s) you’d like to donate to a neonatal family and follow the usual Fly Buys process
  3. The Little Miracles Trust will be sent the item(s) to be passed on to families in need
